At First Baptist Church, we believe that kids are not the future of the church; they are the church. We want every person to have a growing relationship with Jesus, no matter what age they are. We believe this can begin in the nursery, where each child is loved, prayed for, and cared for. This continues into our Pre-K and Kids Church groups, where children are taught about the amazing God who made them, loves them, and sent Jesus to teach and to save them. Kids will learn how we get along as a church family, and how we love, care for and forgive each other daily. Our facilitators and mentors love Jesus, and they love His kids!
KIDS CHURCH: AFTER WORSHIP
Jesus cared for the little children and so do we! Our Nursery is a place of love for all of our babies, and our trained staff does everything possible to make sure each and every one of them is getting the care they need every Sunday. Whether a baby needs to walk, crawl, sleep or just be held, we are on it! Everyone has been approved through our Child Protection Policy process and are excited to spend time with your child, sharing their love for Jesus with them while you are worshipping or serving in another ministry. Here, kids get to learn through purposeful hands-on play in centers designed to engage their senses and imaginations. Kids get to interact with Jesus personally as they worship together and discover God's truth. We want them to know that the Bible is real and relevant and they can be transformed by a real relationship with Jesus! Our lessons create experiences where kids make discoveries, helping them to take ownership of their faith and be transformed by a real relationship with Jesus while they dive into what Scripture has to say about their lives. They will get to worship God together with kid-friendly songs that help them engage personally with Jesus. We don't just want kids to know about the historical Jesus, we want them to personally know him. At a stage in life when it's easy to just teach kids information we want them to believe and live out the truths in God's Word. Kids get to learn from excited and enthusiastic adults and teens who share their own faith stories, who build trust, friendship and a faith that sticks. Our times together incorporate interaction, conversation, discovery and storytelling. We help kids talk to each other as they process thoughts and concepts instead of just listening to information, which capitalizes on the reality that for some kids “interacting with my friends” is a key motivator. A portion of each class includes joining in community worship, scripture memory activities and small group discussions to help them grow in faith and in relationship with Jesus.
